Super Girl

Our Super Girl has done it again! Her counts in all areas are remarkable. So we can proceed with chemotherapy as planned.

But (yes, there is a but), we need to wait until Friday to begin. The next 3 rounds of chemo are more aggressive and will require transplants of her previously collected stem cells to aid her recovery. Since they only do stem cell transplants on weekdays, her chemo needs to begin on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday. That will allow for 2 days of chemo and one day of rest prior to the transplant.

The other fun fact about one of the new chemo drugs is that it secretes through her skin. That means that she will need a bath every 12 hours. Prior to her diagnosis, a bath twice a day wouldn't have been a big deal. But now a bath will produce a guaranteed tantrum. Since her central line and it's surrounding dressing cannot get wet, we have to apply a plastic patch over a majority of her chest that gets taped down. That's enough to make anyone hate baths!

Praise God for giving Lillian such super healing powers and pray that she endures this new life-saving cocktail with ease.

Lori,

I remember when Grant had his broken arm and we had to put a bread bag or an Oregonian bag over his whole arm and tighten it down with a hair tie for baths. He hated it! I hope and pray that Lillian goes easy on you and Jeff as you wrap her up for baths. I know it's no fun. :(

Always in my thoughts and prayers,

Amber K.

Lori,
just getting back to work and getting caught up on everything with Lillian. Last Friday, I cut off 12 inches of my hair to donate to Locks for Love in honor of Lillian. You and your family are constantly in my positive thoughts. Way to go Super Girl, keep up the great strength! I am thinking all the best for you!

Sorry I missed you all on Tuesday!! I am sure we will run into each other at some point :) Good luck Friday with the next round!! We are so proud of the Super Girl & her wonderful sidekicks. We will definately be praying for the next round of chemo and of course for bath time. Baths can be hard enough as it is let alone having a slippery wet super hero toddler throwing a tantrum! Those super powers make her harder to control :) Say hello to Ched (hopefully it will be a short visit this time)-- If it makes you feel any better the Cheds at Doernbecher are 10x more comfortable than the Cheds at Good Sam! Take care. Beth & Family

Lori,

It sounds like you all still have the ups and downs. It seems like more ups as of late though. I loved seeing the updated pics of Lillian, she looks beautiful and continues to amaze me with her strength in each blog I read.... as do you and Jeff! I miss seeing you and think of you all often. I hope to catch you sometime soon :)

Love.
Amber
